Chandigarh’s seafarers observe 59th National Maritime Day


Chandigarh: Merchant Navy Officers Association (MNOA) Chandigarh celebrated the 59th National Maritime Day with fervor at Chandigarh Golf Club here. National Maritime Day is observed every year to show support for global trade - the most efficient means of shipping commodities throughout the globe in a secure and ecologically friendly manner.

Speaking on the occasion, Capt. TS Bhatia, President, MNOA  expressed gratitude on behalf of his association to the Indian seafarers, who operate around the clock to guarantee that important supplies may be transported without interruption. Capt Bhatia said, “Mariners, who endure months at a time aboard ships, are essential assets to international trade and business.”

During the occasion, senior members of the association were honored for their immense contribution to the field of education and welfare. Those who were honored were Capt J S Gill, Capt Bhagat Singh, Capt Lalit Dharmani, Capt PN Prabhakar, and Dilip Singh Mangat. As many as 140 guests were hosted by MNOA, Chandigarh during the event. Court orders attachment of PSPCL XEN’s salary for denial of connection to MM Builders

Mohali (SAS Nagar):  In what deals a severe blow to the efforts of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to improve the ease of doing business and anti-corruption drive in the state, Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd (PSPCL) is not releasing electricity connection to a commercial entity notwithstanding the directions of the court. The permanent Lok Adalat of SAS Nagar on May 20, 2022, had directed the PSPCL to release the electricity connection to M/s MM Builders, which runs Sky Jumper in  Oxford Street , Zirakpur owned by S M Hotel. The court also ordered the attachment of salary of HS Oberai, XEN, Zirakpur Division, and PSPCL. The court has termed the action of PSPCL as contempt of the orders of the Permanent Lok Adalat. The court order reads - “Despite the orders of this court, the PSPCL is avoiding releasing the connection on flimsy grounds. Recorded Music Performance Ltd (RMPL) in action mode on copyright infringement

Gandhinagar, Gujarat:  The Recorded Music Performance Ltd (RMPL) the sole Copyright Society registered by the Government of India for managing Sound Recordings, has filed a suit for copyright infringement for songs played at the Gujarat Titans games played at Narendra Modi Stadium, in Ahmedabad on behalf of one of its members. It is to be noted that a police complaint for copyright infringement of a song against Punjab Kings (PBKS) has been filed by RMPL in Mohali near  Chandigarh. A police complaint has also been made in Lucknow against Lucknow Supergiants (LSG).
