Merchant Navy Officers observe World Maritime Day

 

World Maritime Day celebration

Chandigarh: A special function was held to mark World Maritime Day. A gala afternoon was organized at the DLF Valley Club House for the members and the families of the Merchant Navy Officers' Association (MNOA), Chandigarh.

World Maritime Day is observed on September 29 every year to show support for Merchant Shipping which uses efficient means for moving commodities throughout the globe in a secure and environment-friendly manner.

Capt TS Bhatia, President, MNOA, Chandigarh said,"The theme this year is - New Technologies for Greener Shipping, reflecting the need to support a green transition of the Maritime sector into a sustainable future while leaving no one behind. The theme provides an opportunity to focus on the importance of a sustainable maritime sector and the need to build it back better and greener in a post-pandemic world."

The occasion was celebrated with fun and frolic as around 90 guests and senior executive members turned up with their families for the get-together. The prominent guests included Capt Bhagat Singh, Capt Lalit Dharmani, Rakesh Mittal, and Ajit Singh. A standup comedian also entertained the guests.

Speaking on the occasion, Capt. TS Bhatia expressed his gratitude on behalf of his association to the Indian seafarers, who operate around the clock to guarantee that important supplies may be transported without interruption. BlogsWire

Court orders attachment of PSPCL XEN’s salary for denial of connection to MM Builders

Mohali (SAS Nagar):  In what deals a severe blow to the efforts of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to improve the ease of doing business and anti-corruption drive in the state, Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd (PSPCL) is not releasing electricity connection to a commercial entity notwithstanding the directions of the court. The permanent Lok Adalat of SAS Nagar on May 20, 2022, had directed the PSPCL to release the electricity connection to M/s MM Builders, which runs Sky Jumper in  Oxford Street , Zirakpur owned by S M Hotel. The court also ordered the attachment of salary of HS Oberai, XEN, Zirakpur Division, and PSPCL. The court has termed the action of PSPCL as contempt of the orders of the Permanent Lok Adalat. Recorded Music Performance Ltd (RMPL) in action mode on copyright infringement

Gandhinagar, Gujarat:  The Recorded Music Performance Ltd (RMPL) the sole Copyright Society registered by the Government of India for managing Sound Recordings, has filed a suit for copyright infringement for songs played at the Gujarat Titans games played at Narendra Modi Stadium, in Ahmedabad on behalf of one of its members. It is to be noted that a police complaint for copyright infringement of a song against Punjab Kings (PBKS) has been filed by RMPL in Mohali near  Chandigarh. A police complaint has also been made in Lucknow against Lucknow Supergiants (LSG).
