Merchant Navy Officers observe World Maritime Day

 

World Maritime Day celebration

Chandigarh: A special function was held to mark World Maritime Day. A gala afternoon was organized at the DLF Valley Club House for the members and the families of the Merchant Navy Officers' Association (MNOA), Chandigarh.

World Maritime Day is observed on September 29 every year to show support for Merchant Shipping which uses efficient means for moving commodities throughout the globe in a secure and environment-friendly manner.

Capt TS Bhatia, President, MNOA, Chandigarh said,"The theme this year is - New Technologies for Greener Shipping, reflecting the need to support a green transition of the Maritime sector into a sustainable future while leaving no one behind. The theme provides an opportunity to focus on the importance of a sustainable maritime sector and the need to build it back better and greener in a post-pandemic world."

The occasion was celebrated with fun and frolic as around 90 guests and senior executive members turned up with their families for the get-together. The prominent guests included Capt Bhagat Singh, Capt Lalit Dharmani, Rakesh Mittal, and Ajit Singh. A standup comedian also entertained the guests.

Speaking on the occasion, Capt. TS Bhatia expressed his gratitude on behalf of his association to the Indian seafarers, who operate around the clock to guarantee that important supplies may be transported without interruption. BlogsWire
