'Trees of Joy' plantation drive held at AIPL Dream City NXT in Amritsar

Amritsar: Fully aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Advance India Projects Limited (AIPL), a pioneer in real estate development, continues a unique plantation drive ‘Trees of Joy’, in Punjab, under which a micro forest of 550 saplings of 35 Native Species of Punjab is being planted as per Miyawaki (Japanese method) at Amritsar's AIPL Dream City NXT located on NH-1, Delhi-Amritsar Highway, on land owned by Vishnurupa Developers Private Limited. This plantation is being carried out by AIPL in collaboration with ECO-SIKH an 80G approved charitable society that works to mitigate the threats of climate change and deterioration of the natural environment.

The drive, "Trees of Joy" started with a plantation of 550 saplings held in presence of Mandeep Kaur Tangra, CEO, SmartQuartz, and Dr. Inderjit Kaur, Patron-President, All India Pingalwara Charitable Society ( Registered), Amritsar. Both eminent personalities of Amritsar also participated in the plantation drive.

“We are committed to increase the green cover in AIPL Dream City NXT. These continuous plantation drives are aimed to highlight the fact that environmental degradation is a serious challenge that can only be addressed collectively. Like AIPL Dream City NXT, which is a sustainable green township, other urban infrastructure developers must also come forward and get aggressive in promoting a vibrant and green ecosystem,” Said Dalbir Bedi, Sales & Leasing Head, AIPL, Punjab.

The Miyawaki methodology creates dense forests and is based on the potential natural vegetation of the area. The idea to plant Mini Forests is that forests are nature's carbon sink. The trees in dense forests sequester carbon from the surroundings and store it in their bark, trunk, leaves, stems, roots, etc. A self-sustainable dense native forest is the most effective way to control the rising carbon footprint.

AIPL Dream City NXT, is a sustainable green township with 5 acres of dedicated greens and approximately 10.3 acres of spread-out greens along the roads that provide shaded driveways, create scenic avenues along with other features like continuous central greens, pedestrian-focused streets to promote a healthy lifestyle.

Planning of the township has been done in a way to make AIPL Dream City NXT, a unique ‘one-with-nature’ residential project. On-site water management facilities are designed to increase the environmental awareness of how waste can be used as a resource for creating a circular economy and all organic waste can be transformed into bio-compost and used as manure for the soft areas.

Water is another natural resource that has again been planned meticulously in the landscape areas of the township. Planned as a zero-runoff campus, all the rainwater falling in the township is channeled through natural swales – which allow the water to percolate into the ground to recharge the underground aquifers – this is further aided by rain gardens – which allow excess water to fill up and gradually percolate.

The idea is to provide the new generation with amenities for a healthy, and active lifestyle. With green shaded avenue planting on the roads to ensure shade and prevent heat-island-effect, this ecological township aspires to set the best standards in the real estate sector of Amritsar.
