Merchant Navy Officers' Association Releases Members’ Directory


Chandigarh: Merchant Navy Officers' Association (MNOA) Chandigarh has released the 9th edition of its Members’ Directory at a get- together held at Defence Services Officers Institute (DSOI) here. Around 150 members and their families attended the programme. 

Capt JS Gill, former Deputy Director General of Shipping, Government of India, was the chief guest of the occasion and Tina Ahluwalia, India Head of BLU Maritime Consultancy, a Singapore-based Maritime company, was the guest of honour.

Capt Tejinder Singh Bhatia, President of MNOA Chandigarh, said, “We have been publishing this directory almost every two years. Last time, in 2021, it could not be printed due to the pandemic. So it became more important for all of us to take out this edition at the first possible opportunity, mainly because few new members had joined the association in the meantime and the personal details of all the members needed to be updated regularly.”

"The directory will serve as a ready reckoner for those finding contact details of someone in the merchant navy fraternity in 'City Beautiful'. The advantage of the directory is also that all contacts of merchant navy officers' from Chandigarh have been put at one single place," Bhatia added.

Notably, there are details of close to 800 members in the directory. The directory contains the member's  name, current rank, location and contact details. It also has the name of  the member's  spouse and the couple's wedding anniversary date. Prince Goyal, Director of Equation Developers – a corporation that supported the event, was also present on the occasion. Recorded Music Performance Ltd (RMPL) in action mode on copyright infringement

Gandhinagar, Gujarat:  The Recorded Music Performance Ltd (RMPL) the sole Copyright Society registered by the Government of India for managing Sound Recordings, has filed a suit for copyright infringement for songs played at the Gujarat Titans games played at Narendra Modi Stadium, in Ahmedabad on behalf of one of its members. It is to be noted that a police complaint for copyright infringement of a song against Punjab Kings (PBKS) has been filed by RMPL in Mohali near  Chandigarh. A police complaint has also been made in Lucknow against Lucknow Supergiants (LSG). Court orders attachment of PSPCL XEN’s salary for denial of connection to MM Builders

Mohali (SAS Nagar):  In what deals a severe blow to the efforts of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to improve the ease of doing business and anti-corruption drive in the state, Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd (PSPCL) is not releasing electricity connection to a commercial entity notwithstanding the directions of the court. The permanent Lok Adalat of SAS Nagar on May 20, 2022, had directed the PSPCL to release the electricity connection to M/s MM Builders, which runs Sky Jumper in  Oxford Street , Zirakpur owned by S M Hotel. The court also ordered the attachment of salary of HS Oberai, XEN, Zirakpur Division, and PSPCL. The court has termed the action of PSPCL as contempt of the orders of the Permanent Lok Adalat.
